Invitation to Review the Overview of
"Starting Building Projects"
a management guideline for all lead roles (cover is shown below)

This invitation is for the range of industry practitioners and Associations.

The Steering Committee thanks reviewers of the Exposure Draft of the Guideline, for their comments and corrections in English and French.

Following reviews, the document has been re-structured to provide a compact standalone Overview (13 pages of text) and an elaboration in a more detailed document for a combined 50 pages of text in total. Some topics and detail have been requested as additions to the content of the Exposure Draft.

To download the Overview, currently available only in English, follow the links below.

Associations are being requested to bring the Overview to the attention of members, including those who reviewed the Exposure Draft, and those who work with or for project owners.  This will provide the basis for final revisions to the Overview and the detailed Guideline, prior to its intended publication as a consensus document. Thus, the full Guideline will be finalized based on the comments on the Overview.

Please send evaluations and specific comments to buildingprojects@apeg.bc.ca unless your association is collecting comments. The review is scheduled to end on December 15, 2008.

The association members and their representatives who have joined the Steering Committee are:

  • Gordon Griffith, P.Eng,, Ing, Ottawa, for Engineers Canada (Canadian Council of Professional Engineers)
  • Brad Greene, P.Eng., St Johns Newfoundland, and Eric Lee, staff member, Ottawa, for Canadian Construction Association
  • John Emmett, FRAIC, Halifax, Nova Scotia for Royal Architectural Institute of Canada
  • Chris Quaife, P.Eng., Vancouver, for BC Building Projects Committee.
